Outback Knives 9 — 7 Boat Boys
BROADCAST DETAILS
VESPER “It's us again~ Knives at Boats. If you're just tuning in: don't worry about the sirens earlier. Unrelated. Probably.”
HEX “Don't finish that sentence. It comes true if you finish it.”
HEX “Ah. Chaos Monsoon. So the dream WAS about tonight. Interesting. Don't worry about which part.”
VESPER “...anyway.”
VESPER “Any visions for the folks at home?”
HEX “Tell the folks at home to check their smoke detectors.”
VESPER “That's just good advice, actually.”
VESPER “Tonight we're watching Roy (Captain Emeritus). “The Missing Inning,” to the faithful. The walkup alone — Their own name, whispered by the PA at full volume. — I mean. Come on.”
HEX “The Boats fans are chanting “ANOTHER ONE. ANOTHER ONE”. The words are older than they know.”
VESPER “...anyway.”
VESPER “The Boats section is in mid-season form already. Case in point: Concession choices are considered a form of self-expression here.”
HEX “One run in it, Knives ahead. The 5th uhoh smells like a hinge. Things turn on hinges.”
VESPER “The stadium hates the scoreboard.”
HEX “Emotional support drone failure reported. ...I'm going to pretend that wasn't in the dream. It was in the dream.”
HEX “Tied at 6. The 7th uhoh will not stay polite. The crowd is already financially unstable. They can feel it too.”
VESPER “An entire section is convinced they know what happens next. They don't.”
VESPER “That's the ballgame~ Final: Knives 9, Boats 7. Soul of the game: Vera Looms, 4-for-6. Drive home carefully. Or don't — I'm a broadcast, not your mother.”
VESPER “Stick around for the late edition. Or don't. I'm tired and I love you. Goodnight.”
HEX “Until the next vision. Goodnight.”
